Abstract

This thesis follows the different stages of Menachem Begin's life by examining with the aid of psychoanalytic tools his experience of being the embodiment of the Jewish people. The thesis starts by exploring Begin's childhood years in Poland prior to the war, his prison in Russia, as the commander of the Irgun, his years in the opposition and as a prime minister and up to his final depression.
