Oded Adomi Leshem
Oded Adomi Leshem’s dissertation explores the perceived irreconcilability of intractable conflicts and the extent to which this perception in malleable. Utilizing experimental setups, his research examines the conditions in which hopeful messages can alter political attitudes and behaviors amongst group-members mired in violent conflicts. The first set of studies, conducted in Israel-Palestine, was published in Social Psychological and Personality Science (Leshem, Klar and Flores, 2016). Leshem’s dissertation research is a part of his bigger project which explores the role of hope in social and political conflicts.
Leshem holds a BA in Education and an MA in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from the Tel-Aviv University and is a certified mediator in Israel. He is also a graduate of the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem and has worked as a freelance documentary filmmaker releasing his full length film “Voices from El-Sayed”in 2008. Concerned with the devastating conflict in Israel-Palestine he decided to focus on peacebuilding and conflict resolution. Since then, he led and directed Israeli-Palestinian partnership projects while commencing his research into the socio-psychological aspects of intergroup conflicts. His other research interests are: Implicit and explicit political attitudes, Attitude formation and attitude change, Social contagion in conflict settings, New media and political psychology, Experimental methodologies & Youth in conflict zones.
