Kashoro was interested in George Mason because of its Conflict Analysis and Resolution as well as the Gender studies programs that much her interest. Kashoro’s previous research (thesis) was based on a study of HIV epidemic among Congolese women in the eastern region of Democratic Republic of Congo from 1996 to 2011. She witnessed and learned how conflict in the Congo destroyed the lives of men by raping women and children and destroyed the country infrastructure. From there she felt ready to do more research on how to effectively solve conflict in such places and prevent it from happening to other countries if possible, to empower women and girls through education with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence. She will continue to research the various conflicts that affect vulnerable population such as abused women and children during the conflict. Kashoro is very excited to be part of this program.
