Abstract
The article analyzes the interaction of recent social protest movements, both revolutionary and reformist, with the political process in Argentina. According to experts and social movements alike, the failure of the established neo-liberal policies which, along with rampant corruption and neglect of its traditional social responsibilities by the state, caused the unemployment rates in the country to soar and thereby plunged Argentina into a deep economic crisis. This entry also examines the piquetero movements.
