"The 2016 Presidential Election: Underlying Causes of Unusual Conflict"

It is generally agreed that the presidential election of 2016 is unique in many respects, ranging from the personal characteristics of the leading candidates to the very high levels of partisanship, anxiety, and animosity generated among the voters. But what are the underlying causes of these spectacular effects? What factors make the election of 2016 different from almost every other electoral contest? What can be expected after the election is over?

Professors Richard Rubenstein and Solon Simmons of the School for Conflict Analysis will discuss these matters in a relatively brief conversation, to be followed by a general discussion among all present. You are cordially invited to attend and participate.
