The School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) at George Mason University invites you to an event series to discuss different themes on race and social justice in America. The intent is to create an open and comfortable space for people of diverse backgrounds to engage and discuss current issues, and develop a deeper understanding of the topic.
Wednesday, September 20th:
12:30-2:30pm The Confederate Flag and the Legacy of Slavery
Dr. Spencer Crew will present and lead the discussion, with Dr. Richard Rubenstein as a discussant. Dr. Crew has worked in public history institutions for more than twenty-five years. He served as president of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center for six years and worked at the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution for twenty years. Nine of those years he served as the director of NMAH. At each of those institutions he sought to make history accessible to the public through innovative and inclusive exhibitions and public programs.

2:00pm - 3:30pm: American Justice System and Barriers to Re-Entry into Society
This event will discuss the structurual and cultural system of rehabilitaiton, what has worked and what hasn't.
