The Love and Forgiveness Team at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) at George Mason University, Beyond Intractability (BI) and the Fetzer Institute invite the nomination of individuals who exemplify the practice of love and forgiveness within varying levels of governance. By "governance" we mean not just government, but any entity that has the ability to affect a wide population stemming from either the local, national or international level. The nominated persons selected will be recognized, profiled and featured on an online platform dedicated to promoting and discussing the practice of love and forgiveness in the governance profession.
The purpose of this project is to create an interactive space where practitioners can recognize, learn from, and contribute to the efforts of government and governance leaders who build aspects of love and forgiveness into their work. As such, we are working to identify, research, and highlight exemplars of love and forgiveness as part of good governance practice. The criteria to nominate an individual are that the person has exemplified the practice of love and/or forgiveness in a governance setting. In addition, nominees can either still be active in their governing profession, retired, or posthumous. Recent exemplars that have been profiled include: Izzeldin Abuelaish, Immaculée Ilibagiza, Aung San Suu Kyi, Nelson Mandela, and Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye (The Imam and the Pastor).

If you would like to nominate an individual who meets the above criteria, please complete the nomination form here. The organization or persons completing the nomination form are asked to provide adequate information on the nominated exemplar so that researchers may review and access the work of the nominee. The nomination process is divided into phases so project staff can set the research agenda for the coming months. To ensure the recognition of your nominee within the second phase of the project, the deadline is March 8, 2013. The next nomination phase is set for April 2013.
