Biography

Attahiru Jega is a professor of political science and former vice chancellor, Bayero University Kano. He obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaire, and his master's and PhD from Northwest University, Evenston Illinois. Professor Jega is former director of the Center for Democratic Research and Training and former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities. He is widely published on Nigerian politcs. Prof. Jega was appointed chairman of the Independant National Electoral Commission, the body established to oversee Nigeria's electoral process.
