Scott Cooper is a successful business owner, social entrepreneur and business strategist. After 10 years in the private sector, most recently as a banker and financial representative for JP Morgan Chase, Scott moved to George Mason University where he served as the Co-Executive Director of the Center for World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution from 2009-2015. Since coming to Mason, Scott founded a Study Abroad program, which has taken students to Syria, Israel, Palestine, Tbilisi, Turkey, the Caucasus, Indonesia, Egypt, Serbia, Croatia and Spain. He also founded a program on Business and Conflict Resolution that focuses practically on the question of how the private sector can contribute to a more peaceful world. Under Scott’s direction, the Center has grown from $40,000 funds under management to nearly 4 million operating programs in Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Jordan and Palestine and Israel.
Scott is also the Co-Founder and CEO of MEJDI Tours, a full service tour operator committed to honoring clients and local communities through great service, custom itinerary building, and socially responsible business practices. MEJDI Tours brings travelers to Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Turkey, Spain, and Kurdistan and is developing new products in several other markets. MEJDI’s work has been honored by the Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon, the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, BMW Group, Fetzer Foundation and has been featured by Forbes, the Jerusalem Post, Al Arabiya, Search for Common Ground, the Forward and Haaretz. MEJDI Tours is the proud operator of National Geographic Expeditions Holy Land Trips.
Scott has a degree in Political Science from Arizona State University and Master of Science degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University.
