S-CAR's Recording Policy

It is S-CAR's policy to obtain consent from individuals who will appear in our print and online publications. Permission will be obtained from invited speakers through their agreement by email or signed statement and without this permission S-CAR will not use their likeliness. It will be assumed that S-CAR faculty, staff, and students and event attendees, who have been made aware of S-CAR's recording policies, have given their consent unless they choose to opt-out.

For guest speakers: Opt-In basis
For S-CAR Faculty and Staff: Opt-Out basis
For attendees of events: Opt-Out basis

We will communicate with guest speakers prior to filming and seek their consent (email is sufficient) to the following:

A recording of this event may be posted on the Internet (featured on  S-CAR’s website, but perhaps hosted elsewhere) and archived in the John Burton Library. Please read and give your consent to the following:

I hereby authorize the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) to use my likeliness, in the form of video, audio, photographs, and other media, in its print publications, website, and online hosting services such as youTube. I further authorize the use of biographical material in support of this event, both for promotional announcements and future distribution.

For Event Attendees

At the event, should it be filmed, the moderator should mention to the attendees that filming is occurring and that everyone has the option to not appear in the video. They can notify the videographer of their wishes and more information can be put at the bottom of a sign-in sheet using the following language:

Events recorded at the School  for Conflict Analysis and Resolution may be posted on the Internet and archived in the John Burton Library. Video, audio, photographs, and other media may be used by S-CAR in its print publications, website and online hosting services such as youTube. By advanced request, the videographer, photographer, or recorder will make best efforts to exclude you from the recording. You may also make a request to have your likeness obscured or omitted by contacting Paul Snodgrass at [email protected] or 703.993.1310.
