Application Steps

The application steps to the Master’s International program are as follows:

  1. Submit an online application for the Master’s of Science in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. An MS application requirement checklist can be found below.
     
  2. Once accepted to S-CAR’s master’s program, submit your application to the Peace Corps. A copy of your official graduate school letter stating that you are an S-CAR master’s student should be included with your Peace Corps application.
     
  3. Begin taking classes in the master’s program and connect with Lisa Shaw, Master’s International Coordinator, at [email protected].
     
Application requirements for the Master of Science at S-CAR

The following application materials are required:

  • An earned Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education or international equivalent must be verified from official transcripts.
     
  • A 3.00 GPA (on a 4.00 scale) or better in baccalaureate study. If a student does not meet this requirement they may be accepted provisionally.
     
  • A completed On-Line Application for Graduate Study: Students are to complete the application on-line at George Mason Admissions. Supporting documents are to be uploaded online (resume, goals statement and recommendation letters).
     
  • Two official copies of transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate institution attended (Transcript Request Form). These are to be mailed directly from the University/Institution to our offices in Arlington. If the student mails transcripts to our offices, they must be in sealed unopened envelopes to be considered official.   • Goals Statement/Personal Essay. 750-1,000 words. Submitted in the online application.
     
  • Three letters of recommendation. Recommendations should be submitted electronically online in the application. The applicant includes the name and contact information of those who will write a letter of recommendation. A link is emailed to the writer and they can submit their recommendation online. After the applicant submits the online application, you cannot change who is listed as the recommendation letter writers.
     
  • A current resume or curriculum vitae.
     
  • The GRE is not required, but may be submitted.
