Master's and PhD Convocation Speakers

S-CAR Master's and PhD Convocation Speakers
(3 minute speech)

At each S-CAR Convocation, one representative from the Undergraduate, Master's, and PhD programs will have the opportunitiy to give a 3-minute speech on behalf of their program/graduating class. The speech can discuss topics such as class achievements and your outlook for the future.  This speech will be given on behalf of the Fall 2015, Spring and Summer 2016 S-CAR Master graduating classes.

Things to Think About

  • Types of internships or APT's people have been involved in.

  • Areas of research for dissertations or thesis
  • Places people have traveled for field experience, volunteer activities, etc.
  •
What backgrounds do individuals have; where are they coming from?

  • How has this class evolved and matured throughout their time in the program?
  •
What is unique about this program; what drew people to this field and this program at George Mason?
  •
Where do people feel they are going to pursue with this degree; what are some of the hopes and dreams for the future?

Things to Avoid:
- Going over three minutes!
- Very specific details about particular elements of the program; speech is meant to be a broad speech on class achievements and outlook for the future.

If you are interested in being the S-CAR Master's or PhD program graduation speaker, send a self-nomination to b[email protected]. Please provide your proposed three minute speech. The speaker will be chosen by a committee. Nominations are due by 11:59 p.m., Monday, April 4, 2016.
