Susan Allen Nan is a scholar-practitioner of conflict resolution. Her main focus is on reflective practice and research that emerges from practice contexts. She has substantial expertise in intermediary roles and coordination amongst intermediaries, evaluation of conflict resolution initiatives, and theories of change and indicators of change in conflict resolution practice. She has engaged long-term in conflict resolution in the Caucasus, as well as contributing to a variety of conflict resolution initiatives in Eastern Europe, Eurasia, the Caribbean, South America, and Africa.

Nina Selwan is a PhD candidate at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. Her primary academic interests are tied to post-Soviet spaces, and, particularly, the South and North Caucasus (her native region).

Her past research has focused on Russian-Georgian and Russian-Chechen conflicts, human rights, and gender issues in Russia, in addition to research projects carried out in Georgia, South Africa, and
Indonesia. Over the past several years, Nina has been involved in various projects within the framework of the Georgian-South Ossetian “Point of View” process under the leadership of Dr. Susan Allen Nan.
In addition, Nina has served as the Caucasus Project Officer at The Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy and as the Civil Society Liaison at the Inspection Panel of The World Bank.

Currently, Nina alternates the roles of Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, while working on her dissertation, which examines inter-relations between Russia’s modern political and gender regimes.

 

Margarita Tadevosyan

Margarita Tadevosyan is a PhD student at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution. She is currently also the Dean’s Fellow for Practice and works with the Center of Peacemaking Practice at S-CAR.

Originally from Armenia Margarita is primarily interested in South Caucasus post-conflict dynamics. Over the past few years she has been working with Dr. Susan Allen Nan on various projects in South Caucasus, which included research on shifts in consciousness and peacebuiling in South Caucasus and recently the ongoing Georgian-South Ossetian “Point of View” process. In addition, Margarita is also one of the managing editors of Caucasus Edition: Journal of Conflict Transformation – an online publication that while primary focused on Nagorno Karabakh conflict, also features articles that cover other conflicts in the region.

Margarita’s previous professional experience included working at the Political and Economic Section of the US Embassy in Yerevan, United State’s Institute of Peace training project and National Defense University. Currently she is Graduate Research Assistant with Center for Peacemaking Practice and in addition to Caucasus projects supports other activities of the Center.
