The Pontificia Universidad Javeriana is a private higher education institution founded in 1623. It is one of the 28 universities entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America, and one of the 114 in the world. The University is one of the oldest and most traditional Colombian universities, directed by the Society of Jesus, with its main facilities in Bogotá and a sectional division in Cali.
The Political Science and International Relations Faculty was founded in 1994, having emphasis in three areas of research: Political Participation, Public Affairs, and International Relations.
In 2010, some Faculty professors decided to establish Conflict Resolution and Peace Research as a minor in the Political Science Undergraduate Program. Three years later, it has become one of the most popular undergraduate minors among students.
Pastoral Social is the effort of the willingly service of those who are part of the Catholic Church, to make present, truth, reconciliation, justice and charity, in the basic social structures and in relationships. Their fundamental principles are centered in human dignity, charity - defined as the love for his fellowman, solidarity, truth, liberty and justice.
The Pastoral has different projects in many regions of Colombia, because they believe that to build an integrated peace culture, one must act in a regional and a national level.
The regionalization of their projects is classified in four courses of action:
